WEO holds an event in Erbil entitled "Launching a Report on Monitoring the Implementation of Women Related Strategies in Iraq and Kurdistan Region of Iraq”


On the 19th of December, 2021 WEO held an event in Erbil entitled "Launching a Report on Monitoring the Implementation of Women Related Strategies in Iraq and Kurdistan Region of Iraq”, in partnership with CARE International in Iraq and Oxfam and funded by ADH and the European Union. Members of the Iraqi parliament, the parliament of the Kurdistan Region, representatives of ministries and governmental institutions from the federal government and the KRG, as well as representatives of diplomatic missions, international and local organizations have attended the event.


The event aimed to announce the launching of a monitoring report on the progress made in the implementation of strategies related to women in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Furthermore, the event focused on presenting a summary of the monitoring report and its outcomes. It also highlighted its achievements and challenges, and presented a set of recommendations to improve the implementation of these strategies. The event was concluded with a valuable discussion with the attendees.


The developed monitoring report tackled the implementation progress of the following strategies:




1-the National Strategy for the Advancement of Women in Iraq 2014 – 2018


 2-National Strategy for the Development of Women in Kurdistan Region 2016 - 2026


3-National Strategy to Combat Violence against Women and Girls in Iraq 2018 – 2030


4- National Strategy to Combat Violence against Women and Girls in Kurdistan Region 2017 – 2027
